Recycling
The New Capital Show Recycling Petition has progressed into the third act. Born out of the New York Times Article which raised the issue of Houston's deplorable Recycling Rate of 2%, Leo presented the signed recycling petition to the Mayor and City Council. The footage of the presentation can be seen below by clicking on the Video player. Since then, the Houston Chronicle ran a front page article and New York Times just recently ran a front page story as well.
March 11, 2009Houston Launches Automated Recycling Pilot Program.
Houston Mayor Bill White joined by Solid Waste Management Department Director Harry Hayes and community leaders gathered at City Hall to announce the launching of the new Automated Recycling Pilot Program. The pilot program began March 12, 2009 and will run for one year. It will be tested in the following eight neighborhoods: Lindale Park, Meyerland, Old Sixth Ward, Oakbrook, Pinebrook, Pineloch, Riverwood Estates, and Westbury.
